About Coach Amber Reber Fuentes
Howdy y’all! I’m Amber from Arlington Texas! Born a Texas girl, I spent my younger years in Arlington, then middle and high school in O’Fallon, Illinois where I discovered my love for running at a young age. From soccer and cheerleading/gymnastics, my passion for running grew as I competed in cross-country and track at school and AAU/ USATF programs. After high school, I made my way to The University of Texas at Austin and ran on the Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Teams.
After graduating with honors in Psychology at Texas, I continued my education and completed a Dual Masters Program, earning a Masters in clinical Social Work at Texas, and a Masters in Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2011.
Competing at a high level on the track and XC teams for the Longhorns helped to springboard me into racing post collegiately in a variety of distances and terrains, half and full marathons, and trail/mountain races, including: Boston, New York, Chicago, Sacramento, Austin, and San Antonio Marathons; Sierre-Zinal 31K Switzerland Alps, Leadville CO, Leatherwood Mountains NC and more. I have won multiple road and trail races such as the 2013 Chosen Half in New Braunfels, 1st 2016 Leatherwood Mtn 10-Miler, 4th 2015 Austin Marathon, and recently won the 2018 Zooma Half and Texas Switchback Trail Half Marathon. I am thankful for many of my incredible experiences in running, but I am most grateful for the journey of experiencing God’s love through community, friendships and family.
Through Rise Runner, I offer a holistic approach to training youth and adults, encouraging development in mind, body, and spirit. Coaching in the Austin community for the last ten years, I have led personal and small group lessons and coached a variety of programs including: UT sports camps, FCA leadership camps, Director of youth & family ministry, Dell Children’s Survivor Challenge family running program, Gilbert’s Youth Gazelles, Regents High School Cross Country Coach, Corporate Groups, and more. I’m passionate about working with youth and find their energy and enthusiasm for life to be a gift. I see running as a gift from God and strive to praise Him through the sport.
I am excited for the opportunity to coach youth and adult runners and share in the ministry of sport and faith through Rise Runner!
